The Peaked Lapel (TPL) is a men’s lifestyle magazine / blog site founded by London lawyer Ollie Al-Falah and focuses on horology, cars and fine tailoring. Ollie aims to create an aspirational lifestyle brand with a target audience aged between 25 and 40.
One of the main features of the site is to follow Ollie’s progress as he prepares to take part in the Gumball 3000 rally in June 2019. There are also reviews of luxury watches, sports cars and clothing.
Having been highly recommended to us by another of our clients, Ollie’s expectations were naturally high.
Website and Logo Development
This was a completely new site and we knew the design had to be spot on. Starting with the logo, we set about establishing the colour scheme and then moved onto the web design. It was important to us to keep the customer involved at all stages and we asked Ollie for comments after developing an early draft. The feedback was positive and we knew we were on the right lines. With some minor tweaks, we soon got the design completed. Ollie provided us with content at regular intervals so by the time the site was launched, it was already stuffed full of original and interesting articles.
This is a media rich website with several videos. One other aspect to the project was that Ollie asked us to create intros and outros for the main videos he created.
GPS Tracking Application for Gumball 3000
For while Ollie was taking part in the 2019 Gumball 3000 rally, we developed a web application using the Google Maps API which allowed people to track his progress in near real-time. Using data from a standard vehicle tracker GPS device, we plotted his location every 2 minutes. It was an interesting app to develop and it was also great to be able to watch Ollie as he progressed along the 3000 mile route.
